Being Busy & Counting Down

October 29, 2008

I was still recovering from Barack Obama’s appearance in Miami last Friday when I found out he’d be making another appearance in South Florida.  As great as it is for the candidates to focus on our state, and fight for our votes… as a member of the media, it can be exhausting.  There’s a lot of planning and behind the scenes work that goes into pulling off those liveshots from political events.  We have a very experienced team that handles all that, and luckily the “only” thing I have to worry about is making sure you at home get to see it.

So even though having candidates here is exhausting, it’s also exciting.  As a producer, I get to “play” with my show a lot more.  When we have “big coverage” of any kind… there are more possibilities.  Tonight– the focus is on both candidates campaigning here on the same day.  John McCain was in the Miami for an early rally… and Barack Obama will be in Sunrise for an evening rally, before heading to Central Florida for his first joint appearance with Bill Clinton.

So basically, we’re busy.  Not as busy as the candidates, but we’re busy.  Busy getting all of this political coverage to you, and busy counting down until this is all over.  With just 6 days left until Nov. 4th the countdown is winding down, just as the real fun starts gearing up.

Oh, and in the middle of all this, we had a police chase today through three counties.  Fun right?

See you tonight…

10.22.08… 13 days away

October 22, 2008

So I’ve almost made it a month without a post, but here I am, before the 30-day mark. Sorry about that. There’s no solid reason to explain the absence, so I’ll just move forward.

Things are busy around here. Busier than usual. You can blame election season on that. And yesterday it nearly reached a fever pitch during Obama’s rally in Downtown Miami yesterday– and before that during his surprise appearance at the Deli Den in Hollywood. (I’ll admit it was fun watching the madness from the vantage point of our chopper). But seriously, I’m happy the candidates are out of Florida for today. With that said, I’m sure they’ll be here again before the election.

It’s Day 3 of early voting and people are still lining up to cast their ballots. We’ve also got information on the latest poll showing John McCain regaining the lead he once held in FL. There’s going to be plenty going on within the next 2 weeks, so make sure to stay with us.

See ya at 7pm.
