Brawls, Bare Bottoms, and Meatballs

October 4, 2007

Here’s some more of what’s coming up tonight, Oct.4, on South Florida Nightly News.

Friday Football Brawl
Remember the UM-FIU Football Brawl? Thousands of people streamed the video of the fight on our website… and we got inundated with e-mails from viewers. (you can still email us at interactive@nbc6.net ) Sadly, it’s happened again, but this time at the high school level… and no one is taking it lightly. It happened under the Friday night lights and now dozens of players from Miramar and Flanagan High Schools are suspended. Look for Sharon Lawson’s report on this tonight.

Bare Your Bottom
Would you take off all your clothes, in the name of art? Photographer Spencer Tunick is hoping you will. The Sagamore Hotel will be hosting hundreds of nude people Monday… for an installation that will be a part of this year’s Art Basel. Amara Sohn will be talking to Tunick ahead of Monday’s event… you can catch that interview tonight. And if you want to take part in art… they’re still looking for particpants… so sign up to take your clothes off.

Swedish Meatballs
If you’re an IKEA fan, you know what swedish meatballs have to do with the housewares giant… but I digress. The store is opening up it’s first Florida store this month… and it’s in Sunrise. Organizers are estimating 25,000 people will walk through the doors on the first day… but forget about camping out. We’ll tell you why you can’t take your tent the night before opening day.

To Spank Or Not To Spank?
A note on the spanking story we blogged about this morning… we’ve been getting tons of e-mails from viewers. At the time of this posting, the majority of viewers who voted in our web poll thought the father in question should *not* have been arrested. Hank Tester will take a look at the debate.
