Another Coach, More Hope…

January 16, 2008

Johnson.
Wannstadt.
Saban.
Cameron.

Ladies and gentlemen… meet Tony Sparano. He is the last in the long list of head coaches for the Miami Dolphins. Not until today’s announcement did I truly realize how many coaches the Fins have had. Sparano is the fifth since 2004. Wow.

Tonight we’ll have live team coverage with Joe Rose and Adam Kuperstein from Dolphins Camp in Davie. Both have been there all morning, where Sparano spoke to the media for the first time, shortly after being offered the job. Just last night he was flown on a private plane to South Florida for dinner with the Dolphins brass. Hopefully this is a new direction for the Fins. Sparano and Fins VP of Operations Bill Parcells worked together with the Cowboys when Parcells was head coach from 2003-06… so hopefully this is a good sign.

Patella, Tuna, and Dolphins

December 20, 2007

Basketball is my favorite sport, right after football. And Alonzo Mourning is one of my favorite basketball players. I got to meet him this summer while producing a half-hour show on Zo’s Summer Groove, and was thoroughly impressed by the kind of man and basketball player that he is. Not only is he an athlete, but he’s a community leader as well. So watching him go down on the hardwood last night was not an easy thing. It was replayed over and over again in evening newscasts, even circled and highlighted to show how his knee got hurt. Ari Odzer, an avid basketball fan who knows a thing or two about serious knee injuries, is on the Zo story tonight at 7pm.

Another big sports story that we’re all over tonight is about a big Tuna. Who is that? Even though I follow football, I must’ve missed the day they explained why Bill Parcells is nicknamed The Tuna. Either way, Adam Kuperstein says that “this Tuna is Dolphin friendly”… he’ll be reporting at 6pm, and look for the return of Not Your Average Joe tonight at 7pm.

Ricky’s Back And So Are Gas Prices

November 14, 2007

It’s tough being a South Florida sports fan these days. The Miami Dolphins seem to be going for a perfect record these days… but not the kind that brought glory to the 1972 team. Instead of the undefeated season, they’re hoping to have a completely defeated season. With zero wins thus far, the news that Ricky Williams is being allowed back into the NFL brings a glimmer to the eye of many Ricky fans. But the question is… will the ‘Fins take him back? Adam Kuperstein is live at Dolphins Camp with a look at that story.

After several dry days, the skies have opened up once again… and today we got several reports of water spouts.

We’re already going to be opening up our wallets for the holidays… and now we’re going to have it open it even wider to be able to fill up your gas tank. Prices at the pump are up… Ari Odzer takes a look at that.

And a Miami Beach resident has been voted Sexiest Man Alive by People Magazine… find out who, tonight at 7.
